At 45" high, 65" wide and 28" deep at center, this piece is relatively small for an entertainment cabinet. Designed to house electronics in each end and a 27" TV in the center, its' petite size was mandated by a "given" area withing the home. Small, but commanding a presence of its own, it is constructed of solid cherry and clear yellow pine with walnut inlay and through pins at the door corners and post and beam built mirror joints. Yellow pine was chosen for its vivid grain definition, and cherry for warmth and stark contrast. A superb expression of geometric form, the design displays squares, rectangles, circles and arches, balanced with straight line inlay in the drawer fronts and tip mirror rail. The top is an individual statement. Pine boards selected for vivid grain create the larger area of the top. The pine banding grain was selected to run at a right angle to the the area to which it mates, interrupting the monotony of the whole. Overlapping walnut inlay was applied to separate the two and add continuity. Copper pulls and slatted ends provide function (air flow) and visual interest.
